Metal Transaction Project

Metal Transactions Statute Metal Transaction Contact Information

To All Arizona Scrap Metal Dealers:

Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) 44-1644A requires all scrap metal dealers to electronically enter daily transaction information into an automated database, which will be interfaced by law enforcement statewide.

ARS 44-1644A is currently in effect. The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) will be providing the necessary database of transaction information provided by all scrap metal dealers throughout the State of Arizona. AZDPS will oversee this system and provide authorized law enforcement personnel access to the data maintained in the database for the investigation of crimes involving materials theft.

Our goal is to provide a user-friendly experience and make compliance reporting as streamlined as possible for you and your staff.  The reporting system is free of charge.

To meet the requirement, LeadsOnline has been selected to provide the database on behalf of the State of Arizona. You may enter transactions electronically via a transaction entry system provided by LeadsOnline. If your business has a system in place for collecting the information required by ARS 44-1644A, LeadsOnline will provide an interface to link your system with the database, so that duplicate entry is not required, while satisfying the new database system requirement.

Effective January 1, 2012, all businesses associated with the reporting requirements of 41-1644(A) will be required to use the new LeadsOnline system.  Additionally, the RMIN electronic reporting system will be shut off permanently at midnight, on December 31, 2011.

Thank you in advance for your participation as we work together to promote public safety in Arizona. If you have any questions, you may LeadsOnline at (800) 311-2656.

Sincerely,

Sergeant Sean Carney
